Oops - a little Late :)

Book Character Dress-Up Day - this Friday
This Friday students are asked to dress up as their favorite book character and bring the book to share with the class.  It does not have to be really fancy.  For instance I am going to be the mouse from "If you give a mouse a cookie"- I am just going to wear mouse ears and cut out a big cookie to wear around my neck :)  and wear jeans and a white shirt.  That's how easy it can be.

LAST WEEK:
We read Llama LLama series books last week.  The kids really enjoyed these books.
We practiced Monitoring and Clarifying as we read.  This is a good reading strategy to use to help us remember to stop when something doesn't make sense to us.
We did several writing projects related to Llama's :)  They were super cute!
We also read books about pumpkins and we also created pumpkins in Art Class.

In Math this week:
We were working with looking at numbers and numerals one through five and also making our own number books.

It's Fall Y'all

Here's a look at what we were up to last week:
We read books by Kevin Henkes, and we continued talking about the Comprehension Strategy: Making Text to Self Connections

Here are the connections we made to Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse.
We also made connections to Wemberly Worried.  We wrote about things we worry about.

We had a great spirit week! Unfortunately I only got pictures on Friday.

We also had a guest on Friday, Mr. Dufield read to us and we asked about what positive things he sees when he looks in the mirror for our classroom Project.  Thank you Mr. Dufield.

We also had a special day on Friday that the students earned for their amazing behavior all week and their behavior during the very long tornado drill!
We had flashlight friday during Readers Workshop:

We explored our 5 senses:

Here's a little about ST Math.  Your kids might call it JiJi Math.  We do it on the IPAD everyday for about 15 minutes.  These are math lessons that students work through individually.  They earn little treats if they meet their weekly goal each week.  We also have a board where they can move their JiJi penguin depending on how much of the syllabus they have completed.  Sometimes it can be hard, so I have to encourage students to show GRIT at times when they working.
